Almost 90 days later (4-19-16), I called and spoke to the owner directly.
I actually had to say to him, "Why are you yelling at me??"
60 days came and went.
I went to his Facebook page. The owner yelled profanities at a customer in front of the customer's child. And instead of an apology to this customer, his responses are very confrontational.
Was given an estimated time of 5 to 6 weeks to be done. Brought them in on January 14th of this year, went to pick them up after the 6 weeks went by, They hadn't started them with the excuse the soles had to be ordered!
I had an 8 year old , totally destroyed, pair of Birkenstock sandals that were headed for the trash, but thought....what the heck... so dropped them off here. They replaced the cork footbed and sole with original Birkenstock material and even reconditioned the straps. When I got them back I was extremely pleased. They looked and felt brand new and the repair was a lot cheaper than buying new ones!! I won't be throwing old shoes and boots away anymore. EXCELLENT WORK!
I was so pleased with my experience with Beyond Shoe Repair - I stopped in with some questions and was so impressed with how friendly, professional and accommodating they were, I returned the next week with shoes to be repaired. I found the prices reasonable, the owner very friendly and the workmanship very good. I've been recommending them to everyone who needs any sort of shoe repair since!
Neededless to say, my husband went to the shop yesterday and picked up my boots (untouched) and we only got half our deposit back. :(
I love my custom made sandals! They're comfortable and look great! I'm always greeted with a smile and a friendly 'hello'.
He said the estimated custom order time would be 30 days, but could be longer.
I use to be proud to still have a shoe cobbler here in Maine, but now I am just shocked, embarrassed, and ashamed with his behavior towards customers.

I was super excited the day I dropped off my boots on in January 2016 to have the heels completely rebuilt. I spoke with the owner himself, and he seemed super nice and competent.
He said that they hadn't even started my boots yet!! Then when I asked the owner if I could just pick the boots back up and get refunded back my $45 deposit.....that's when he started yelling at me. He said that he would only give me 50% of my deposit back because I "wasted 30 minutes of his time and resources the day I came in to drop off the boots & that I was wasting his time on the phone right now!!"
Messed up the steel toe on left boot now rubs on small toe, stitching looks awful and not waterproof, vamp does not match up or line up well with the sole!
My husband brought in a pair of Redwing boots to have the sole replaced.
Was told they would call when ready, after not hearing from them, husband went in at least 3 times at every 2 week intervals, not ready yet.
On the 5th of April, husband went in was told they would be ready next day. Still no calls, husband went in on April 9th to see if they were done,
A DEFENSIVE BUSINESS OWNER WHO HAS ANGER ISSUES. HE TOOK MY MONEY AND DID NOT DO THE WORK HE PROMISED.
" Low And Behold"! They were done, lousy workmanship!
The owner seriously YELLED at me on the phone yesterday!!
